Geocache Description:

Welcome to Aldie Mill, this fascinating old mill is on the National Register of Historic Places and the Virginia Landmarks Register. The Aldie Mill geocache is placed with the permission of the Northern Virginia Regional Park Authority. Please observe all park rules, night caching is expressly forbidden here.

The posted coordinates take you to the center of this historic property. In order to find the final coordinates, you will have to find the necessary information on Aldie Mill property. The visitor center and the buildings at the mills are closed at certain times of year, but the outside grounds are open year round. You will NOT need to enter any buildings to find the information for this cache, but we do encourage you to take a more detailed tour when the facilities are open.

In order to locate the small container we have hidden near this site, you will have to gather the following information to solve for
N 38 58.5DC W 077 38.4AB

…a millpond almost A/B of a mile away
Crude Fiber, not more than C.00%
DEDICATED – OCTOBER 8, 197D

The container may be a little hard to find, but we don’t want it to be, so here is some help once you find the coordinates. It will be to the right side of the path coming from the mill. You do NOT have to get wet, nor do you need to go downhill or put yourself in a precarious position to find it. The container itself is hidden from view so look for an attachment device.

Be sure to visit the Related Web Page for some interesting Civil War information about Aldie Mill. Also, for more information about Aldie Mill, the official NRVPA website can be found here.

Aldie Mill is one of two geocaches that we have placed on the 2012 leap day, February 29th. In honor of which, the first to find this cache will also find #29 of our personal 678 geocoins.
