Geocache Description:

I like the graveyard caches because they offer public access and it's also an opportunity to pay our respects to those departed. Some of these souls wouldn't get any visitors at all if it wasn't for geocachers stopping by. Please explore your surroundings with respect and a soft step. The cache is another recycled item that I found somewhere. A micro container is inside. History of Derryadd Cemetery: In 1850 Mr. and Mrs. Adam Hunt donated one acre of land as a cemetery; he named it Derryadd Cemetery after his home town in Ireland. In 1857, Derryadd Methodist Church was built beside the cemetery. The first recorded burial in Derryadd Cemtery was Eliza Harrington aged 24 years, who died 19 December 1855; she was the wife of James Harrington. The cemetery was expanded in 1900 following the donations of two-thirds of an acre by Sam Noble and one acre by Mr. Oxby. In 1919, the Rothsay Women’s Institute levelled and renovated the Cemetery and erected stone posts at the gateway and the corners.
