Gem hides in the heart of Pietermaritzburg's industrial area and has provided me with many happy weekends. Access is off Willowton Rd and there is a safe car park. Access is limited to work hours only, unfortunately.
Access to the garden, gallery and coffee shop is free, however the butterfly house does have an admission charge of Adults R38, Children (3-16 yrs) R24, Pensioners R24 and an additional charge to the monkey house R15 (all age groups). If you do enter the house make sure to talk to the guide, they can see many things you will overlook.
The cache is accessible without ever leaving the footpaths. Please respect the wishes, and vegetation of the owner who kindly gave permission.
