A 35mm film pot - no pen/pencil I'm afraid, placed in a lovely part of Cirencester's Abbey grounds, suitable for pushchairs, wheelchairs etc.
Abbey grounds, as the name implies is the original location of Cirencester abbey which was demolished as ordered by Henry 8th as part of the dissolution of the monasterys. Many people think that the church nearby is the abbey but it is actually Cirencester Parish Church. These grounds are lovely to walk around at any time of year and those not familiar with the area could easily be unaware that they exist. There’s part of the Roman wall here and also a strange “hump” near the cache site. This turns out to have been an ice-house for the nearby mansion (since demolished).
