Une cache "drive-in" pour vous parler du château de Castelgaillard .... un 29 Février ! ;-)
Attention : c'est une propriété privée et vous ne devez pas passer sous la clôture électrique qui barre le passage. Bien sûr, aucun problème pour accéder au "trésor", caché dans le domaine public.
Au début du XIIIe siècle, le comte de Comminges Bernard V devient seigneur de Castelgaillard et fait de ce château (XIIe siècle) une résidence comtale temporaire.
En 1743, le château fort, ruiné, est acheté par Dominique Pagan, bourgeois de l'Isle-en-Dodon. Il construit une maison sur la ruine de l'ancien château des comtes.
La motte castrale est toutefois toujours parfaitement décelable, entourée d'un large chemin de ronde.
Castelgaillard est une impasse. Garez vous après l'église, tout au bout de la route, au pied du château, devant les grosses pierres.

A "park and grab" cache to tell you about the château of Castelgaillard ... on February 29th! ;-)
Warning: it is a private property and you must not go under the electric fence that blocks the passage. Of course, no problem to access the "treasure", hidden on a public ground.
In the early thirteenth century, the Count of Comminges Bernard V became lord of Castelgaillard and made this castle (XII century) a temporary count's residence.
In 1743, the ruined castle was bought by Dominique Pagan, a bourgeois from l'Isle-en-Dodon. He built a house on the ruins of the ancient counts' castle.
However, the castle mound is still very noticeable, surrounded by a wide walkway.
Castelgaillard is a dead end. Park your car after the church, at the end of the road, at the foot of the château, next to the big stones.
