Geocache Description:

Upgrade of RoanQs archived 'Black Mountain Cache' (GC1A7J2)

Though not the highest trail-accessible peak in Toro Park, Black Mountain (elevation 2110 feet) has an arguably better view than nearby Simas Peak (elevation 2245 feet) and is easier to reach. It is also one of my favorite lunching spots - when geocaches draw me to the heights of the park anyway!

Having put my thumb through the brittle lid of RoanQs 'Black Mountain Cache' when attempting to rehide it in March 2010, I occasionally considered replacing the container with something a bit more durable, but didn't get up there with such a container until after RoanQ archived her cache due to maintenance concerns in October 2011. Since this is such a lovely spot, I thought the cache could use a little icon upgrade as well, so it is now a letterbox hybrid containing a 3"x3" rubber stamp donated by Samm99 which echoes the view from the peak.

Be sure to bring an ink pad and some paper if you want to get a stamp impression! This cache is a large ammo can in a slightly different spot than the earlier cache, but contains the contents of the old caches (including the original logbook and the replacement log sheet that was used when the first cache was thought to have gone missing) as well as some new swag (including an unactivated FTF geocoin for the first finder) and two bottles of water for any unprepared hiker/letterboxer/geocacher. This is a new cache, so even if you've already signed one of the old log books/sheets you can sign it again and claim this cache! Please note that one Ziploc bag contains the letterbox materials (rubber stamp, sketchbook) while another contains the geocache log book. You are encouraged to sign the geocache log (rather than the letterbox sketchbook) if you are not making a rubber stamp impression.
