Greatland Reviewer: Hello:

This cache page has been archived due to the lack of response to one or more prior Reviewer Note(s) about issue(s) with the cache and because the Cache Owner has not been online since 2014. If the owner would like to have the cache unarchived, please contact me through my profile as soon as possible before another cache gets placed nearby.

Please note that unarchiving a cache page requires it to go through the same review process as a newly proposed cache, using the cache placement guidelines currently in effect.

Geocache Description:

The Kuamo'o-Nounou Trail is a state-maintained hiking trail that takes you to a picnic shelter after 3/4 of a mile. The views are great for the effort. From the picnic shelter you'll have views of Central Kauai, Wailua Homesteads, and Lihu'e.

The trail starts 3 miles up Kuamo'o Road from Highway 56. Park on the side of the road and walk through the yellow gate. For the first 1/10 of a mile, you'll be passing a residential area on the left and pastures on the right. Then you'll descend and cross the Opaeka'a Stream on a footbridge. Veer to the left once you've crossed the stream and continue up the trail. You'll enter the forest and will be passing the 1/4 mile and 1/2 mile markers. Soon you'll reach the picnic shelter. You'll be rewarded with great views of Central Kauai. The cache is located 1 minute or so past the shelter. Although the Kuamo'o-Nounou trail continues past the picnic shelter for 1.25 miles all the way to its junction with the Nounou Mountain West Trail, the picnic shelter is where most people stop. The trail is NOT steep, pretty wide, and basically quite easy. Be sure to re-hide the cache completely because this trail is very popular.

Note: Tree cover may make it difficult to get GPS readings, so be sure to bring spoiler photos and the detailed description.
