Geocache Description:


We have made this one an easy multi.
The above Co-ords will bring you to the Wee Wee Rup School 3088.
This school began when parents wanted education for their children.
The school opened 12th May 1891. Mr David Edwards was in charge.

There was a problem with the ground being so low and it flooded often. In 1909 they had 4 floodings in 17 months.
The school closed on 5th April 1917 and moved to to another school a couple K's away
You will find the Co-ordinates in a eclipse container (magnetic) for this school.
Please be careful of any wire on the ground.
PART 2
It was in 1911 the school was built on land donated to the Education Department and opened in January 1912.
The school was called Burkes Bridge School.
In 1917 the school building from Wee Wee Rup was bought by log buggies to make more room.
Water supply was brought to the school by a windmill.
In March 1927 a new pony paddock was fenced to accomadate the pupils ponies.
A residence was built in the school groundsin 1937.

The Burkes Bridge School closed on 3rd May 1948 and Consolidated.
The 46 pupils were transferred to the Cohuna Higher Elementary School.
This school became the Cohuna Consolidated Higher Elementary School.
