Geocache Description:


There were 20 or more schools around the Cohuna area.
Some were only open for a short, some moved to different sites and others moved to another school.

Seven of these schools consolidated and became Cohuna Higher Elementary School.

This school was known as Daltons Bridge school. It opened in April 1923.
The education department agreed to supply a teacher if a building was provided.
Miss Dulcie Jones was the first teacher.
The school closed in 1925 and it was moved across the road to this site to be part of a new school that was built and it opened in 1926.

Many of the children were members of the Junior Red Cross.
They put on a concert once a year to raise money for the Red Cross.

Swimming took place in the Gunbower creek across the road.

Daltons Bridge Scool closed 9th April 1948
And consolidated.
The 21 pupils transferred to Cohuna Higher Elementary School.
The school building also went to Cohuna.
The school now became the Cohuna Consolidated Higher Elementary school

The cache is a eclipse container so Log only please BYO pen.
