We have a few micro caches along this road of varying difficulty. Locals call this the Old Dump Road because there used to be a transfer station here. This is a great location for bird watching. There is some occasional rural traffic along this road, so bring your binoculars along and camo yourself as a birder while you're puzzling over the microcaches.
The phenomena of shoe fences and shoe trees seem to be uniquely Western curiosities. At least, I certainly have never seen any in the East.
There are two shoe fences in this general area (the other is at N41 38.343 W122 20.321 ), but this is our favorite of the two because a theme has sprung up around it, as you'll see.
Neither cache Shoe Fence #1 nor cache Shoe Fence #2 (both of which are near this particular shoe fence) are actually at the shoe fence in order to protect it. The waypoints will take you to the cache locations; the shoe fence itself is located at N41 41.368 W 122 25.443.
Smaller than a film can. Bring your own pencil. Contains a tiny nail to help you extract the log; please be gentle and replace carefully. No need to climb through the fence.
The Geo-Goldenz like caches that don't require a lot of stealth. It's hard to be inconspicuous when you are two gorgeous and ultra-friendly golden retrievers.
As with all Geo-Goldenz caches, extra points (lol!) for posting photos of your Geo-Dogs, past or present. We'd love to see them!
