8:30am
Amwell Diner
Hey all you cachers out here in
the Wild Western region of NJ...
are you interested in meeting some of your fellow cachers and
forming a casual group of like-minded folks?
Please come out on the 18th for some coffee and conversation
(and possibly waffles! woo hoo!)
and bring your ideas of what you would like to group to be.
We can discuss future events and get-togethers and ideas on how
to
promote geocaching in our area. If you can make it, please leave a
note below
so we can notify the diner as to how many will be there.
A little background on how this
came to be...there's a small group (a dozen or so) of folks who
have been trading emails over the past few weeks. This is an idea
that many have been thinking about for a while. While there are
very successful and well-administrated regional geocaching groups
in New Jersey, none of the “big 3” (Northern
[www.nnjc.org], Central [www.centraljerseygeocaching.net], and
South [www.sjgeocaching.org]) really apply to the central/western
portion of the state. Here we are, hanging out over the Delaware
River at 56 minutes longitude, and the majority of the CJC
caches/events are 40-50 miles east of here. We are mostly north of
Route 195 and south of Route 78, but not totally. So, while we
technically fit in the definition of “central,” we are
just too far, well, west. The Central group tends to focus on the
area within a 25 mile radius or so of East Brunswick. Yes, we have
less cache density than the eastern area, but we also have less
population, less cachers, less lamp posts (haha.) On the upside, we
have lots of open space, parks, creeks, small towns and villages
that are ripe for quality cache placement. So, let's get together
and make the western part of NJ a force to be reckoned
with!
Hope to see a good
turnout - this is going to be great!
