This cache is located near Gaffney's famous Peachoid Water Tower. The Peachoid is a four-story (150 feet tall) water tower in Gaffney, South Carolina, that resembles a peach. The water tower holds one million gallons of water and is located on Interstate 85 between exits 90 and 92 (near the Cherokee Foothills National Scenic Highway). Usually referred to by passing motorists as "The Peach" or "The Moon over Gaffney."
For a number of years "The Peachoid" cache brought geocachers to this unique landmark. Recently the original cache was archived due to vandals. There has been a fence installed around the water tower, although it will not interfere with access to the cache location. You can choose to access the cache from the back parking area of the nearby eatery and walk along the back fence line. You can still get close to the tower as well, the gate is open 8am to 5pm daily. This location is just too historical and picturesque not to have a geocache here. This is a great location along the I-85 Corridor to drop off travel bugs.
