Geocache Description:

Cache is near a popular beach in Northern Tasmania. Almost a drive-by, with plenty of parking. Short track with a few easy steps up. No vegetation needs to be disturbed.

This beach is popular with surfers, windsurfers, beach-combers, and dog walkers. It faces north to Bass Strait and the weather can be wild one day, and calm the next. The weather in Tasmania is never boring! When I was a child I remember the crowds and excitement of the Surf Carnivals. sadly they are in the past.
There are several other caches not far away, and one more will help make a good day's caching in the region.
Low Head is a beautiful and historic area, with the Pilot Station nearby (operating since 1805), also the interesting Maritime Museum. The lighthouse is on the peninsula with sweeping views to Bass Strait and along the coast from east to west. At the lighthouse hear the mighty foghorn sound at 12 midday each Sunday.
The cache is a small camo screw-top container holding the following: log book and pencil, scratchie ticket for FTF. Few small animal swaps. Also contains the brand new TB "Doug Bug" named for my Geodog, Doug.
