The leap year has only occurred two times since geocachings
inception. On Wednesday, February 29th we thought we'd mark this
event with an event! Groundspeak are offering a Leap Day Souvenir
(virtual souvenir) for those teams who log a "find" or "attendance"
on this rare geocaching date.
It is an opportune time to enable the many locals to log this
date without the need for travelling too far (many thanks to the
Harrowangs for the nudge!). Like many others, we will be working
that day so we thought an evening shindig would be more
appropriate.
Time: 6.00pm to 8.30pm
Venue: Oddies Creek Park
Bring: A chair, something to eat & drink,
some aeroguard
There are BBQ facilities available and as it will be dinner time
for most of us feel free to bring some meat, bread and salad for
yourself, family and/or team (don't forget the cooking implements
such as tongs).
For those not familiar with this area, there is a childrens
adventure playground very close for the junior cachers - they
should enjoy the area immensely. It has been designed to be
suitable for babies through to teenagers with a giant flying fox,
climbing net and observation deck. There are also tables and
benches under cover should the day be inclement, lets hope its not.
Ammenities are also very close by.
The intention is to have a relaxed and informal evening for
cachers to catch up and enjoy. There will be some giveaways and
perhaps a game, dependent on the weather (bring your trusty GPS
just in case). You will have an opportunity to discover/move
trackables and trade pathtags for those interested in this
pursuit.
Looking forward to seeing like-minded people on the 60th
geocaching calendar day of this 366 day year, we can tick off this
box and have some fun whilst at it.
Please remember to log number of attendees (including the junior
cachers).
