The Alburgh Recreation Trail provides a nice viewing area for wildlife along Mud Creek.
This is a log-only pre-form tube, located only a step or two off the Alburgh Recreation Trail. There should be a pencil, but feel free to bring a back-up.
The path runs along an old railroad bed from the Village of Alburgh to the shores of Lake Champlain, passing through some upland woods and marsh areas along the way. It's a nice and flat walking path. The terrain rating is only because of distance. You do not have to step down the bank at all.
Looking north from the cache site, you'll have a wide view of Mud Creek Pond, part of the Mud Creek Wildlife area. Several duck boxes are visible, plus hundreds of acres of natural habitat.
Parking is at the Mud Creek Wildlife area parking lot. You can follow the trail north from the parking lot until it meets the recreation trail. Turn left to follow the trail to the cache.
