St. Hart's 'Hood: Rocketship Park Traditional Cache
St. Hart: The essence of this cache was that it was magnetized and could be pushed up on a tall metal light pole out of reach of anyone without the right TOTT – pretty much a design criterion for survival in a popular residential park. <i>(That this cache lasted almost two years and only went MIA once is a testament to the success of that design.)</i> With the city replacing those light poles with "stone" poles, I have scouted the park carefully for a similar host so that cache retrieval/return operates the same. I could find nothing suitable and hence am giving up on this cache type here. Look for <b>"Rocketship Park Redux"</b> in the future if I can figure out an alternative cache design that might be equally muggle-resistant...

Overview: Hollywood Riviera section of Torrance, at the edge of Los Arboles Park, nicknamed "Rocketship Park." Almost a park & grab, but beware of muggles most times of the day. Cache not near the playground equipment, but why not walk the 100 yards north and see the Rocketship, which is an obvious landmark, plus a panoramic view of Torrance South High School and beyond?

We are populating our neighborhood, the Hollywood Riviera -- that part of Torrance with the Redondo Beach address on the north slope of PV – with geocaches because there are virtually none hidden here. This location is near a favorite park/playground for generations of neighborhood kids, including our own in the 80's. We have a series of caches hidden paralleling Calle de Arboles, but Los Arboles Park is not on Calle de Arboles; go figure.
We think it might be safer to find this cache at night. A type of camo that you either recognize immediately or you might hunt for a while. You will probably need a retrieval tool unless your name is Kareem or Yao. Because of this placement and reading in logs about cachers' struggles, the D & T ratings were increased (both from 1.5) in 2013. Try to look inconspicuous while making the grab.
Log-only; bring your own writing utensil. The ziploc holding the logbook is glued to the container, so please be gentle. Please try to replace the cache as you found it.
