Never got an opportunity to thank someone who saved me a great deal of difficulty. A geocache will have to suffice.
It was the depth of winter with a bit of snow on the ground. The log coupe was complete but they didn't clean off cuts off the road for about 50m. So I decides that I would take the little track past the mondo mondo cache. Down to this spot Something I had done before and was on my way thinking little wet but nothing my fake 4wd Kia sportage couldn't handle.
I knew I was in trouble when I slid the last 10m down to the dirt road.
Continued on to their was another tree across the road. I was about to start walking when the 4wd of a young hoon turned up. Obviously out to impress the girl with the amount of mud he get on his car. He jumped out the car and grabbed his chainsaw. It was a dead end road so told him he was wasting his time. But if he wanted to do some sawing he could back to the road through the log coupe. We parted ways. Me embarrassed because I rarely go bush without a chainsaw.
I went on to get the ftf at the where ya goin mate cache.
Headed back and tried so hard to get kitty Kia back up the mud pile. This hill is different in winter. I didn't succeed so I thought might as well go around the road not believing that he would have cut a path. Arrived and could see some cuts. Thought just teasing the dreadlocked guy with the conservation on his car.
Soon realized not to judge a book by its cover. Spent 30 mins clearing the cut branches off the road and was on my way.
