Na severovzhodnem robu Šaleške doline, kjer reka Paka med strmimi bregovi Tisnika in Pečovnika prebije apnenčasto gmoto, se v najožjem delu soteske skriva Huda luknja. Do nje pridemo po magistralni cesti iz Velenja proti Slovenj Gradcu. Soteska Hude luknje je zaradi posebne lege in temu primernih ekoloških razmer botanično izredno zanimiva. Tu so znana rastišča nekaterih rastlin, ki običajno uspevajo v submediteranskem flornem območju, ter rastlin, ki so sicer značilne za Alpe in so ostanki ledene dobe. Med raziskovanjem jame so našli nekaj fragmentov črepinj, kosti in antični novec. Turistično je jama prvič bila odprta leta 1895, od leta 1995 pa si jo je možno pod strokovnim vodstvom ogledati.
At the northeastern edge of the Šalek valley, where the Paka River cuts through the limestone mass between Tisnik and Pečovnik, Huda luknja Gorge is concealed in the narrowest part of the ravine. It is accessible from the main road from Velenje to Slovenj Gradec. Huda luknja Gorge is botanically highly interesting because of its unique location and ecological conditions. Some plants which usually are found in sub-mediteranean biogeographical zones grow here, as do plants which are normally characteristic of alpine regions and are remnants from the Ice Age. Alpine bells (Cortusa matthioli), an endemic species, grow an inaccessible cliff behind the entrance to Huda luknja, and are found nowhere else in Slovenia with the exception of Uršlja gora.
