Geocache Description:

The Faded Signs Series is a series of mostly easy caches along Highway #4 in Pictou County with a couple of harder ones to find for variety. Cache sizes range from nano to regular. The latest caches may test features of your GPSr that you may or may not know how to use.

This medium-sized camoufladged container is not hidden at the posted coordinates. The final cache coordinates must be obtained from information on the faded fire hydrant at the posted coordinates. Interesting - there is no buildings within 300-400 metres of this hydrant.

To solve for the final cache location, find the following numbers on the back of the hydrant for the corresponding letters A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, J, K, L, M, N, P, R as listed below. I have not included any of the letters on the back of the hydrant that are listed with the numbers blow,

"P""A"0"E"0"L"

2"B"-80

"C"00"D"

2"N""M"

"K"0"F"

2"H"-"J""R"0-8"G"-0

Substitute the numbers found for the letters below to solve for the coordinates for the Final Cache Location.

North 45° (E)(F+G).(H-J)(K-L)(M)

West 062° (N-P)(R-J).(A)(B)(C+D)+32

The final cache container is well hidden. There is some bushwhacking involved to get to the final cache location and the cache may be difficult to find if there is a lot of snow in the area.

NEW - UPDATES OCT 12, 2016 - THE FINAL CACHE CONTAINER IS NOW A CAMOU MICRO HANGING IN A PINE TREE. THE CACHE LOCATION IS MUCH EASIER (AT THIS TIME) TO GET TO (LOOKS LIKE A ATV TRIAL ALMOST LEADING TO IT FROM THE ROAD).

THERE IS NO CHANGE IN THE NORTH COORDINATED. A CORRECTION OF +32 IS APPLIED TO THE WEST COORDINATES. THIS IS REFLECTED IN THE ABOVE FORMULA

Along Highway 4 in Pictou County, there are a number of tourist advertising signs that have faded from use with the construction of Highway 104 through Pictou County.

Normally, only the locals travel along Highway #4 while the tourists and other travelers normally take the four lane express Highway #104 to get through the region on their way to their holiday or business destination.

All the caches in this series are placed in the proximity of old faded Tourist Signs which may or may not reference past attractions or current old attractions.

Most of the caches in the series are Winter Friendly and fairly easy terrain to get to with no or minimum bushwhacking, but some caches are not. The cache containers may vary in size but fitting with the hiding spot.

CONGRATULATIONS TO "3Bearss and Canuck Thistles" FOR THE FTF
