Cache is hidden at the end of a trail in the Nanaimo River Estuary Holden Creek Conservation area. You will know you're almost there when you see the bird petroglyph.
I usually explore the other side of the Nanaimo River Estuary but this location offers a different view. You may need binoculars to view all the activity on the estuary but the dike between the farmland is also home to many birds. Some birds that have been spotted in this area include: Canada geese, swans, ducks, scaups, mergansers, herons, bald eagles, harriers, hawks, northern shrike, gulls, kingfishers, chickadees, robins, swallows, sparrows, various shorebirds and you may even spot a short-eared owl soaring across the estuary searching for food.
Cache is a micro container with room for only the log sheet. Bring your own writing stick.
Make sure you stop to check out the memorial for Richard G. Davies, a respected wildlife biologist and conservationist.
Happy caching and hope you enjoy the view!
