Spring is just around the
corner and it is time to come join the Florida Geocaching Association for their annual
fun-filled weekend of finds, fellowship and food in our
state’s capital city. We have chosen Alfred B. Maclay Gardens state
park for the Saturday activities. It is located just off
Interstate 10 (exit 203) and you should be able to get directions
to the park by following the link above. The entry fee into the
park is $6.00 for a vehicle of up to 8 passengers and exact change
is required.
There will be opportunity in
Lake Hall to swim, canoe or kayak. Additionally, the park has two
short nature trails that meander through the woods with views of
the lake. Hikers and bicyclists can enjoy five miles of shared-use
trails and five miles of designated biking trails winding through
the woods surrounding Lake Overstreet, located on park property
adjoining the gardens.
This event will be during
the high-blooming season and you may choose to tour the Maclay
house and the gardens. During this blooming period, a special fee
is charged for visiting the Gardens and the Maclay house which is
open daily, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
We will begin the activities
at the pavilion (see parking coordinates below) at 10:00
a.m. At approximately 12 noon hot dogs will be furnished by FGA and
Tallahassee Area Geocachers (TAG) will provide all
the paper products and plastic wear. As is customary, we are asking
attendees to bring one of the following food
items:
Based upon your LAST
NAME (not geo-name) bring the following:
• A – E Desserts
• F – J Potato/pasta or other type salad
• K – O Snacks or drinks
• P – Z Veggies or fruit and dip.
Please post your WILL
ATTEND and indicate how many will be in your party
and the item of food that you will bring.
It is important that we have a proper count in order to have
sufficient food for everyone.
Updates to this event and page will be made so
place it on your watchlist.
