Geocache Description:

Here is a nice view overlooking the Beaver Valley that crosses between Delaware and Pennsylvania. Enjoy the view and thank Woodlawn for providing this area.

This cache is located in the woods of the Woodland Trustees of Wilmington, DE. One of their primary purposes is to provide affordable rental housing in the City of Wilmington. This is funded through trusts and land ownership in the area.

Woodlawn owns and maintains about 2,000 acres of land in Brandywine Hundred and nearby Pennsylvania as wildlife preserve, and open space used by the public for hiking, walking, and horseback riding. Many of the original farms in the area have been preserved, and the rural community character remains. Open fields are leased to local farmers who are encouraged to practice soil conservation and crop rotation.

The Brandywine Valley owes a great deal to this foundation to preserve and offer this beautiful area for enjoyment by everyone. It is truly a splendid area so close to a major metropolitan area. Who would think that this natural area could be within minutes of a major suburban area?

Trails of the area and identification of parking areas can be seen and downloaded from the Woodlawn site ( (visit link) ).

This cache is pretty easy to get to and find but the loop trail around the fields and through the woods can take from 30 minutes to an hour. The parking coordinates are our favorite spot to start. There are no roads to cross from this parking area but it will involve two nice stream crossings. As always, there are direct routes to caches but they may not always be the easiest. Have fun anyway you get to this cache.

The picture on the cover of the log book is our dog Twix who has fully recovered from a viral swelling of the brain two years ago. He is now doing great and always enjoys our walks through this area.
