I Smell Bacon! Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

Team Koppertop: It was too overgrown in summer, plus the namesake of this cache - the cool pig - is gone! So it doesn’t make sense here anymore. It was fun while it lasted! Thanks all finders!

Geocache Description:

A fun little puzzle based on an animal that supposedly makes a good pet, without a doubt can be a yummy snack and/or dinner entree (provided you're not a vegetarian) and is even a worthy subject for art!

We had the idea for this simple little puzzle for some time. We just could not come up with a location that was worthy of it, and then we stumbled upon this out of the way little spot. It was perfect for our puzzle idea AND mildly historic as it turns out!

Here is some back story to what you will see at GZ:

In 1971, citizens of Seattle voted to save the Public Market from destruction and organize the Market Foundation. Thinking a piggy bank would help to raise money to save the Public Market, Georgia Gerber, a local sculptor designed Rachel, the Market's piggy bank.

In 2001, "Pigs on Parade" was first launched by the Pike Place Market Foundation, bringing public art to Seattle while helping to raise money for the Market's human services.

In 2007 upwards of 100+ pigs were sponsored by local benefactors. Many of them were even designed and produced by local artists. These pigs spent the summer scattered around the City of Seattle on very public display. There was even a map and a "pig walk" you could do to tour the city and see them all. At the end of the summer the pigs were auctioned off to raise money for the Pike Place Public Market.

One of these little piggies went "Wee Wee Wee" all the way here and found a home in this out-of-the-way spot around Kent/Auburn. The pig in question was designed to be reminiscent of the exterior of The Experience Music Project Museum near Seattle Center. Why don't you come see it?

Hunting details (IMPORTANT):

The cache is on private property with the owner's (Bonnie) gracious permission. Please only hunt for this during daylight hours.

You can pull into the driveway and use the immediate turn to the right for parking. You will be able to park within 10 feet of the cache. This is acceptable with the property owner and will be best if you have kiddos in the group, for safety's sake of not having to cross a busy road. There is also generous shoulder parking just across the street from the cache.

The cache is large so you should not need to go prying around too much to find it. It IS NOT hidden on/in/or under the artwork - it's okay to look, but don't touch the Pig! Please be respectful of the artwork and DO NOT climb on it!

First to find prize is a two buck bill and a FTF sticker badge. Cache is packed to the hilt with loot!

Once you've arrived at the cache, you might say "Hey! What's shakin' bacon?" And once you've found the cache, this quote/commendation from the movie "Babe" will fit perfectly and can then apply to you - "That'll Do Pig, That'll Do!"

Have fun and happy hunting!
