Antelope Island is an Island in Lake Kariba, Zimbabwe. Access to the Island is by boat only. Fishing around Antelope Island will produce record size Bream (Known as Nile Tilapia or Oreochromis niloticus) and Tiger fish. Bream of over 4lb’s is not uncommon and 10lg tiger fish can be caught around the Fish Farm nets.
The Island is surrounded by Fish Farm nets and feeding stations. Tilapia fish are farmed with great success and supplied to the local market and exported from Zimbabwe.
Care must be taken when walking on the Island as the Island is home to Buffalo and lion. Grazing Hippos and huge crocodiles can be seen swimming in the bays and sunning on the shoreline. Do not leave your boat unattended as the Baboons can be very inquisitive! Watch for Golden Orb spiders webs and snakes!
