I walked from Llanrug village to place this cache but the route can be done in the opposite direction from Brynrefail. Parking is available for what would be just a short walk in this direction. Keep to paths on the left if doing it in this direction to avoid what can be very muddy in wet weather.
If going on the longer walk go over the bridges from the Rhythallt Public House (known locally as Penbont) and take the first right marked Tai Madoc and Craig y Dinas (two terraces in an area called Stablau (Stables))
The road ends near these terraces and it's then necessary to go on foot along a pathway that is very muddy in parts. The pathway follows the route along which many years ago there was a railway line which carried slates from the Dinorwic Quarry in Llanberis.
When you reach a locked metal gate with a message on it about where the key can be obtained you are close to GZ - use the small gate at the side of the locked gate and stick to the narrow pathway on the right.There is a slate fence on the left and a wire fence on the right and the path here is quite narrow.
