In the long-standing tradition of MOGA, the night before will hold an opportunity for MOGA guests to gather and socialize. BlueBeadMan gets a year off, and the Iowa Geocachers Organization (IGO, Do You?) picks up the reigns for 2012.
NEW! NEW! NEW! Just announced on 2012-04-05: THERE WILL BE A BAND AT THE BYO EVENT!!! The local chamber is picking up the tab for the local cover band, Firestorm to play for us all evening long!
The terms of the BYO are simple: bring your own! In this case, we're referring to beverages and seats. We'll have a fire going at the brand new pavilion (that's fancy for a big picnic shelter) on the property of the Honey Creek Resort State Park. There is plenty of parking, and if you're staying at the resort anyway, the walk isn't bad (especially for geocachers). There is a nice playground for the kiddies here as well. We'll start up the fun at 7:00pm and finish up at 10:00.
Last year there was a new tradition started - costumes. Yep, we're following suit! Leave your pirate gear at home, and put on your Bobbie socks and saddle shoes! We're havin' a sock hop! We want to see your best poodle skirt, your finest pompadour, and your fine dancin' skills! Of course, you could just be a square on the side, but why?!? It's gonna be a blast! We'll snap your photo and put all the great costumes up for people at MOGA to vote on. We've got some cool prizes to offer the best of show!
Now, this isn't a picnic - so grab some vittles before you show. But by all means, come to have a great time! We'll kick things off at 7:00 pm and kick all you kiddos out by 10:00. You'll need your rest for all the festivities on Saturday at MOGA!
