This cache has been archived.

Frog Dog and Corker: Many, many thanks to all who attended, not only the event(s) but the pre- and post-parties. A special thanks goes out to Suzze&Grump who co-hosted this event and put in countless hours putting this and the CITO event together. Couldn't have done it without you guys! Let's do it again next year......

Geocache Description:

Come join us in the UFO Capital of the World for a fun day of way out geocaching and geo-talk in celebration of New Mexico's 100th Anniversary.

The fun starts at 9am with a  way out breakfast of 100 year old alien burritos. OK, they're not that old, but they're definitely far out. * Please read FD&C note dated 4/15 below.

We have hidden at least 100 new permanent caches way out of town and we just know everyone will get some way out  FTFs.

This way out  event is one of eleven monthly events, February through December, in celebration of New Mexico's Centennial Anniversary of becoming the 47th state. Hidden as part of this event is a special Centennial Cache with one clue to the Final Centennial Cache which will become available shortly after the final event on the 7th of December in Santa Fe. A complete list of all eleven Centennial Events can be found at NM Centennial Events.

A little about Roswell . . . . In addition to being one of New Mexico's geocaching hotspots, with hundreds of caches within 20 miles of city center, it is home to the New Mexico Military Institute (NMMI). Founded in 1891, the Institute was instrumental in New Mexico achieving its statehood in 1912. Thank you NMMI! The Chaves County Courthouse, located on Main St., celebrates its 100th birthday this year. Another landmark built in 1912 is the Phelps family home which currently serves as the Historical Society for Southeast New Mexico. A 1912 themed cache can be found on the grounds. As for that 1947 incident . . . . . suffice to say it is celebrated annually in early July with the UFO Festival drawing hundreds of believers from all over our great country.

Please go to Name Tag Form so a name tag can be prepared for your arrival. Thank you uuesley for setting this up for us!!
