Geocache Description:

This is the first cache on the Mombasa North Coast. It's located near the Nakumatt shopping mall and Haller Park, and within walking distance of many of the beach hotels. Please keep in mind that walking here alone is not advisable after dark. To ensure appropriate maintenance, the cache is located inside the stand dealing with safaris etc. You will not be asked to purchase or pay anything. The cache is only available during business hours.

The coastal city of Mombasa has some of the most beautiful beaches in the world and there is no shortage of cultural and nature attractions nearby. The city itself has a fascinating history and the ethnic diversity of the inhabitants adds to the vibrant atmosphere. Attractions nearby include Haller Park, Shimba Hills, Mamba Village crocodile farm, marine parks and, of course, safaris.

The people are friendly, but walking alone in the forests or at night can be dangerous. Likewise, it is not advisable to book a tour or safari from those who offer them on the beach. Instead, it is recommended to search online beforehand and read reviews (for example on TripAdvisor) before deciding which operator to choose.

IMPORTANT NOTE May 2014: The cache will be unavailable at its ordinary location for the next two months. My local contact has informed me that visitors may go to the "salon downstairs and ask for Ms Zuliel" to access the cache.
