A small series of six cache’s around the beautiful Graig Syfyrddin and Edmund’s Tump (the whole hill area is commonly known as just ‘The Graig’. The overall terrain rating is due to the initial climb.
My intention was to set a small series of caches in various locations around the elevated area of this often-overlooked hill to encourage a few more visitors. The hill itself reaches 423 metres at its highest point, known as Edmund’s Tump, and has many stunning views from most areas of the open land, including May Hill, Aconbury Hill, Garway Hill, Sugar Loaf and the Black Mountains to name but a few, and even down towards the Bristol Channel on a really clear day.
I have numbered the caches in the order that I would recommend you walk them in (i.e. clockwise) with a start point at N 51° 53.025 W 002° 52.766 where there is a large verge to pull up on with space for a car or two (although this gets very muddy in winter and may be inappropriate at this time). From here you can walk straight up the (steep) hill due east and take in SidandBob’s cache ‘3CW Graig Syfyrddin’ if you like. This gets most of the climbing done out of the way in one go and then these six can be taken in without too much hardship!
Please be aware this is open countryside and appropriate footwear and clothing is needed.
This is a micro cache with log only (the log can be a little hard to get out so you may want something to help) and has a 'guardian' - please replace as found. The clue is a bit of a spoiler really so only take a look if you're stuck.
