Geocache Description:

This is my first cache on a bridlepath that I have used frequently over many years, from the Melincryddan area of Neath to Cimla. It follows a tarmac lane then goes up an inclined path of sones and boulders

Eaglesbush Valley is a steep-sided wooded valley located in the Melincryddan area of Neath. The site, declared a Local Nature Reserve (LNR) in 2008, is a mix of ancient semi-natural woodland habitats dissected by the Crythan brook. The 11 hectare site is protected in recognition of its importance for biodiversity and to the local community.

Eaglesbush Valley is a hidden gem in an urban environment. Visitors and residents could be forgiven for walking by, unaware that the unassuming entrance quickly leads into an area rich in biodiversity.

The walk starts off Crythan Road/Old Road and follows a tarmac lane, which can be walked (my preference) or driven on up to a small parking area at the foot of the stoney road. The walk up the stoney road can get very wet and muddy in wet weather and can sometimes resemble a small stream. Wheelchairs and pushchairs will not be able to use the path.

Please do not go through the no entry signs on the gate posts near the parking are or go into the private properties on either side of the stoney road. There are dogs running free in both properties so please keep you own dogs under close control.

I hope you enjoy my first cache.

CONGRATULATIONS to Fedans Finders & twi-fans for a quick First to Find.
