About a 25 minute walk, mostly on old tarmac drive and some on woodland path, ending at a tremendous viewpoint on a rock overhang,(has railings),muddy in places so please wear suitable footwear. Striking view of Campsies from GZ.
***Please note there are steep slopes and drops around the GZ, please keep an eye on Geokids ***
This is the second of five caches in a mini series placed in the former Lennox Castle estate grounds.
There are several places to start and park so you may wish to take a shorter route rather than my given instructions.
Park at the new housing estate North of Lennoxtown, just off a small roundabout on the Glen Road, coords are in waymark list, from here walk South, ignore the red road into housing on the right, at the end of a wooden fence turn right, then turn right again North across rough ground and head for the small bridge (waymarked). Do not cross river but turn left on to old tarmac castle main drive and follow this up through the woods to the castle. The ruin on the right just before the castle is the much earlier Woodhead House, it was deliberatly partly demolished and planted with ivy after construction of the new Lennox Castle to make it look like a ruin.
Pass the castle on your left and round the back find a flight of stone steps on the right signposted "lovers leap" From here make your way to GZ along the track, muddy in places.
Great views from here in the right weather conditions.
Well done C2 for FTF.
