Geocache Description:

This cache belongs to 'The Pits', a series which takes you on a 2 mile walk around the Asheldham gravel pits.

The route takes you along the narrow country road for short distance before returning to the footpath. Take care as heavy lorries do use this road frequently, though most turn off before the footpath entrance.
The footpath can be completely overgrown in summer so you may need to walk along the road to the corner before rejoining the footpath there.

The verge is wide enough to walk along safely for the short walk between footpath marker posts.

There is a friendly pony in the field which runs along the north/south footpath marked at trailhead Path 2. He will most likely follow you as you walk beside the field. The fence is rather wobbly in places so extra caution should be used if you decide to pet the pony.

Update - A nice new marker post has now been erected north of trailhead 2 so you should find the path quite easily now. Small children may need to be carried through sections of the walk here due to overgrown stingy nettles.
