Z #5: When in Spain... Traditional Cache
LavaLizard: As there's been no cache to find for months, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the future, just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.

About the building:
Jotham Bixby Sr., the "Father of Long Beach," donated this land in 1897 and funds were raised to construct the first library building. But by 1928 the building had become inadequate and construction of a new building was set in motion. This building opened in January 1929. It is a replica of a castle in Spain, with beautiful wrought iron railings, decorated beams, and a rear **patio** with an art tile fountain. On March 10, 1933, a major earthquake damaged the building. It was closed for repairs between 1936 and 1938. In 1997, the Alamitos Branch Library celebrated 100 years of service to the community.
LIBRARY HOURS: T&Th 12-7; W 12-6; F&Sa 10-5. CLOSED SUNDAYS, MONDAYS, AND HOLIDAYS.
UPDATE 9/19/14: Although WP3 (a hollow book) was stolen by some miscreant a while back, WP2 is still inside the library, if you care to find it just for kicks. WP2 is so cute, and the librarian was cool with leaving it in place. Look for WP2, and you'll find the *clue* to the now-defunct WP3. Maybe I should move the log to WP2. Then again, some little tyke might steal it.
