Geocache Description:

This is 1 of 12 in a new series of caches in this area called “AAC Cache to Eagle” which highlight Eagle Service Projects by the Boy Scouts of the Alapaha Area Council.

Each of these 12 caches will contain one randomly selected Point of the Scout Law. When you have completed all 12 caches, you need to identify which word is associated with each cache number. The first 12 cachers who find and log all 12 should email the cache owner with each Point of the Scout Law correctly identified with each cache number to receive a free BSA 100th Anniversary Geocoin. After the first 12 geocoins have been given away, we will have a random drawing for 12 consecutive months giving away one coin a month for those completing the series not receiving one of the first 12.

The Photo highlights the Eagle Project site and may or may not include the location of the actual cache, although it will be nearby.

This cache is located at the Douglas Municiple Airport and highlights an Eagle Project completed by Elton Brooks III. The project is a memorial in honor and memory of the Personnel, Instructors and Cadets of the 63rd Army Air Force Flight Training Detachment. Elton developed an interest in aviation at a very early age and was actively involved in the nearby WWII Museum and often helped his father rebuild and restore vintage aircraft. When the time came to plan his Eagle Project the memorial seemed like a natural fit. Elton found the large granite stone in Jacksonville, FL and had his father haul it back home. While working on the memorial Elton found an old bent propeller in his father's workshop and he incorporated it into the project with a plaque dedicated to those who died in training crashes. Be sure to go inside the airport terminal and visit the museum and also visit the nearby WWII Flight Training Museum. Elton completed this Memorial in 2002 while a Boy Scout in Troop 859.

Cache was placed with permission of the airport manager, Ken Floyd.

Congrats to southern_angel on the FTF!!
