Meriden Quarry Hawk Watch

Ok, so this is not THE official Wildcat Ridge Hawk Watch... It's not nearly as high, and it's not recognized by the birdwatching community. HOWEVER, this location provides an AWESOME view and you will most likely see a hawk.
Parking is available on a couple pull-offs on Meriden Rd. near the Gateway to Meriden Quarry Cache. There is a swamp-free entrance into the woods close to the bridge on Meriden Rd. The cache sits up above the quarry and you can't really see the quarry from the cache, so take some time to explore the area around the base of the hill. You will find all sorts of interesting remnants. There is a cliff southwest of the cache where a decent amount of granite must have been removed and some large tailings to the southeast of the cache. There are unmarked trails and old roads in the area, but none that will take you all the way to the cache. Bring your bushwacking shoes. Be careful of loose rock, especially if you choose to walk up above the cliff where the quarry was. Please do tread lightly. The area closer to GZ is graced with lots of beautiful/fragile moss and lichen. Please respect them.
