Geocache Description:

This cache is one of the Dirty Dave Series for February 29, 2012. Dave hopes you will be able to find 29 traditional caches before his event, and 2 night caches on this special day. Dave loves night caches. He doesn't believe in micros. Have fun finding this one after his event.

Please use stealth - ***FYI, the brother in-law (same property) of the neighbor to this cache fired a .22 when we were looking for our dog (who had jumped the fence). Didn't know it was us...? Please be VERY careful and quiet when looking for this cache!!!!!***

Those of you who have done night caches previously know the drill. However, for those of you new to the concept, here are some instructions.

0. Do not go alone.

1. Wait until it is dark outside. (dusk could be ok)

2. Parking is available on both sides of the street near the stated coordinates.

3. Proceed to the stated coordinates found on this cache page. You will find yourself at a concrete post. This is the trailhead.

4. One at the trailhead, look for the first firefly, chemical light, and/or green reflective tape. The best way to do this is to hold a strong flashlight at eye level so that the firefly and green tape shine back into your eyes.

4.1. Bring a spare light.

5. Proceed down the path following the fireflies. They have been placed close together at the beginning to get you started. After that they will be farther apart. If you don't see the next one, just continue down the trail until you do.

6. Stay on the path until you see two sets of fireflies and green tape, one high and to your left and the other lower and to your right. For this cache, approach the two high ones on your left. (the others will lead you to DDS Night 2)

7. Continue looking for fireflies in the forest.

8. Once you see two sets of three fireflies together, you are within 10' of the cache. It is a large ammo can.

9. Once this cache log has been signed and the cache replaced, go back to the intersection where you saw two sets of fireflies and go toward the lower set of two. From there you will see the path to DDS Night2 if you choose to do it at the same time.

10. Enjoy yourself.

Questions?
Q. What do I do if I don’t see the next firefly/tape?
A. Continue on the path until you do.

Q. Where will the fireflies be located?
A. On trees, 4-8’ above ground, on either side of the path, and from 1-10’ off the path.

Q. What if I see two or three fireflies on the same tree?
A. Read the above information to determine what to do.

Q. What if I see two yellow fireflies?
A. Are you sure they are fireflies? Cat eyes glow yellow when flashlights shine on them in the dark.

Q. What lurks within these woods at night?
A. Tree roots
A. Downed trees and branches
A. Low hanging branches
A. Cougars
A. Bears
A. Snakes
A. Other evil creatures

If you still want to go after this cache, remember the two basic rules of wisdom:
- don't start looking until you see two sets of three fireflies and tape clustered together.
- be sure you can run faster than your buddy.
- if you get to a fork, take it.
