************CONGRATS ATWILL AND MERIWILL FOR FTF!***********
This cemetery is a special place for us, as we have many relatives buried here including our son. Our cache team also has a Grandfather and a Great-grandfather buried here who both fought in the US Army during WWII.
Several Putnam County cemeteries have a unique piece of history in the form of "tree" monuments. More than 100 years old, these grave markers were hand-carved of limestone by Jasper masons. At leaset four of these can be found here at Forest Hill.
Putnam County has 58 Civil War Veterans buried throughout the county, three of whom are buried along with other family members. Please take time to visit the large Civil War Monument while you are here seeking this cache.
The cache was hidden with permission from the mayor, and groundskeepers are aware of it.
BYOP, and please be sure to replace it where you found it. Also please log any DNF's so that we know about potential maintenance or replacement needs. We will keep an eye on the logs to ensure that any necessary upkeep will be done promptly.
Take note that this cache is not available at night. If the gates are closed, please do not come to log this cache until they reopen.
