Geocache Description:

This cache can be reached only by hiking over 4 miles (each way) no matter which way you come.

The Seneca Creek area is one of the most scenic and isolated parts of West Virginia. This creek runs from south to north in the heart of the Spruce Knob Unit of the Spruce Knob-Seneca Rocks National Recreation Area. The "easiest" way to reach the cache is to make your way toward Spruce Knob and Spruce Knob Lake. Between them is found the only trail that doesn't require steep elevation changes. There you will find the trailhead (on the north side) for Seneca Creek Trail (TR515) to Judy Springs. This trail takes you gradually down the course of the stream for 3.5 miles to the area known as Judy Springs. Then it is nearly another 1.5 miles to the cache. There are several stream crossings necessary and it is rare to do them without getting wet or removing shoes. You will see several scenic falls as you travel. When you reach the area of the Upper Falls, do not make this stream crossing, rather bear left and make your way up the knoll toward the cache. It is located in an area where many small trees have fallen in a pile (approx. 100 yards from the falls). After you find the cache, work your way down to the stream to get the best view from below. This is the highest falls on this stream. Only attempt this cache if you are experienced at spending time on long hikes and have the necessary supplies. If you want to make a backpacking trip of it, there are many excellent camping sites all along Seneca Creek and I have a cache with a great view placed on Huckleberry Trail (near Spruce Knob).
