A Micro in the Park Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

OReviewer: As there's been no cache to find for a long time or has had no owner response for at least 30 days, I'm archiving it to keep it from showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements.

Please note that if geocaches are archived by a reviewer or Geocaching HQ for lack of maintenance, they are not eligible for unarchival.

Geocache Description:

A micro hidden in a park I frequented as a young child. Please obey the park rules as you enter and note that the park is closed from 10pm to 8am. Bring your kids or dog to play while you grab this one. Bring your own pen. Coords may be soft, but close. Trees in the area may play heck with the GPS.

*** Owner's note: I'm out of town at present but will check in on this when I return *** When we were young, this park had many features that are considered too dangerous for today's youth. Topping the list was one of those spinny merry-go-rounds. I remember yelling for my uncle to go faster and faster as he'd push me and my cousins around! He'd know when to slow down when one of us wound up on the ground, several feet away. Another fun ride was the 10' high slide. Being all silvery metal and in the direct sunlight made it quite a challenge to ride in shorts. In the beginning of the spring, our grandfather would send up to the park with a sheet of wax paper for each of us. This, he said, would help make the slide go faster the rest of the year. I don't know if it really worked or not, but I do know we used to have competitions to see who could land furthest from the bottom end. The landing was on hard, packed dirt and led to many scraped knees. The times have changed and now I have a child of my own. I bring him here on occasion. For better or worse, the dangerous machines of my past are gone and have been replaced with a small jungle gym and some swings.
