Frankly, I am amazed... disappointed... at how many adults cannot do basic math. And that is not just this country either - there was even a Survivor Tocantins episode in which the contestants had to do some similar math. Not only did the organisers get the math wrong, the contestants also got it wrong the same way and so they survived the challenge. Sigh. No 12-year old would have made that mistake.
