I love cemetery caches. It allows me to combine geocaching and wandering around cemeteries into one fun outing. When I go to a graveyard I look for Confederate soldiers, World War I veterans, any other veteran that paid the ultimate price for this country. I also like to look for the earliest settlers to the area. I log the Confederate veterans at my Graves of Confederate Soldiers Blog. Someday I hope to write about all of the other stories I encounter on these trips.
The Resaca Cemetery overlooks the crossroad town of Resaca. To the west you can see I-75 as it cuts across Camp Creek Valley. This valley and hills around it was the site of the bloody Battle of Resaca in 1864. Go up north a few miles and find the Resaca Confederate Cemetery. It is a somber reminder of the terrible nature of war.
Remember that this is a daylight to dusk cache.
Here you are looking for a quart plastic container. It is covered with camo tape. I placed several items that I have collected over the year in this cache. There is also a fossil looking for a new home!
Dec. 6, 2013: Upped the terrain rating.
Dec 27, 2016: Replaced the cache with a waterproof ammo box,. Placed some treasures from my early days of hunting caches in addition to a traveler I was holding.
