What is manopause?

Manopause is a mental condition typically found in men in their mid 40's to late 50's brought on by the realization that old age is just around the corner. Symptoms include: frequent reminiscing about the “good ol’ days”, cranky judgmental attitude and a closed minded approach to anything new. It is usually punctuated by the chronic need to play a lot of golf and vote republican. The condition is difficult to cure and almost always progresses into oldtimers disease. Research has documented 3 mood swings of manopause (see the diagram below for more information).

There are primarily 3 mood swings in manopause but sometimes there can be 12 additional mood swings added to that number (42 58.230 071 20.289).

Is there a cure?

Currently there isn't a cure for manopause. Research continues into this condition which is estimated to affect 42 million men in North America alone. A recent outbreak was reported in Western Manchester, NH centered around Millie's Tavern. The outbreak was thought to be limited to 8 men but has recently been documented at 12 individuals.

The results of a recent study conducted at Harvard University are promising and have yielded that the activity of geocaching can help minimize manopause symptoms, especially if the activity is engaged in after dark while trying to be FTF. This activity improves blood flow, increases muscle tone, and leads to feelings of euphoria which results in patients temporarily forgetting about their manopause symptoms. Additional studies conducted by Madrid University on men in the Western world have shown that manopause symptoms typically start to abate at age 64 and are completely gone by age 71.
