Geocache Description:

Well we all know that geo-cachers are ‘fun guys’ to be with so this cache is for you fun loving folk!

Seriously though, these mushrooms are important. So no kicking or squashing them, not this one and not even the poisonous ones.

Anyway you’ll have a job killing it – the bit popping up above ground is not the main part. The working part is the hyphae – long thread like things that work their way through the soil and even into the root hairs of the trees where they help trees take up water and nutrients. There are miles and miles of hyphae right under your feet.

Fungi help recycle all the dead things in the wood into soil. Minibeasts like to eat fungi. And whats more – we use fungi to make bread and beer - so take care of fungi!
