Due to the definition of leap year, our calendar is on a 400-year cycle. Coincidentally, a simple calculation will tell you that there are exactly 20,871 weeks in a period of 400 years. Thus the day of the week is also on a 400-year cycle; that is, the day of the week will be the same for any two dates 400 years apart.

  • During any 400-year period, how many leap years are there? AB
  • In how many of these is leap day on Wednesday? CD
  • Leap day, 2/29/2012, is on a Wednesday. How many years will it be until another leap day is on a Wednesday? EF

You can validate your puzzle solution with certitude.
