This cache has been archived.

Bunjil: Unfortunately I cannot see any information that indicates that steps have been taken to resolve the issue/s associated with this placement. Therefore as advised previously, the cache is being de-listed (Archived) to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements.

The Geocache Maintenance guideline explains what needs to happen with a Disable cache.

Caches that have been archived for lack of maintenance will not be unarchived. This is explained in the Help Center article here.

If you wish to contact me please send an email via my profile - Bunjil, and quote the cache name and GC number.

Geocache Description:

The crack of the bat, the smell of the hotdogs, the smash of the windscreen from another foul ball; such are the strikes and balls of baseball.

The SERIES
This is the first in the Yarra Trail series, a 21km round circuit, and as of placing the final (#90 Aug 2013) most have logged chunks of the series. I don't believe anyone has done it all in one hit.
If you plan to do it in one, we wont begrudge you if you resort to the cut paste method of logging for the majority of the finds, but the more personal notations and acknowledgments are always appreciated.

be it the exploration of parts hitherto unbeknownst to thou,
be it an amusing anecdote of your adventures upon the trail
or an encounter with wild-life, friendly, foe, other cachers
or just getting out and seeing humanity rushing by,
appreciation of the benefits of this weird sport, oft maligned.

Lots of easy Trads, a multi, a few puzzles, a couple of earths, a letterbox, a where- i-go, and even a night-cache, a premium; hopefully one of each, and definitely all the alphabet.

Soon they will be complete, able to be done in a circuit, should you choose to you may see me cycling past yelling out "Have you found it?"

The DRAGONS
The Doncaster Dragons is one of the most successful Metro teams in the Victorian league, but is nestled almost in obscurity on the fringes of the district.
The club won their first premiership in their first year-1974, and has always been a family oriented club. Official home ground is at Deep-Creek reserve, although it has outgrown their single diamond and unofficialy uses several other local grounds (from Montmorency, Briar Hill and TimberRidge) to take up the slack as it continues to develop.
Future plans for long overdue and much needed new facilities in the neighbouring quarry have floundered with council funding drying up after a change of mayor, and the municipal chambers burning down- (unrelated events).

The Dragons have very competitive seniors teams, in both mens and womens divisions. The women not only field more womens teams than ANY other club in the country(!) they often have members go on to represent the State, and Australia internationally. The men recently (Feb 2012) lost their star 17yo left handed pitcher when he signed to the Boston Redsocks. Congrats Daniel McGrath
2013 update:
Our Lewis Thorpe (18 in Nov) spent the previous year pitching in the states with Minnesota Twins in the rookie-ball league with a fairly impressive statistic; walked six, struck out 64 for the season!
Awesome Louie!!! He's pitching for the Melb Aces over our summer.

Their junior teams, little-league and T-ball season is fun and inclusive of all abilities, and relies heavily on parent coaching, and often is the proving ground for their future talent.

If you come by while a game is on, or the lights are bright, the canteen and bar will likely be running; the locals mostly friendly, hotdogs cooking budweisers cold, and seats in our spacious 'grandstand' always accessible.

The CACHE
Secret to unobserved hunting if 'game in play', or 'bus in stop': perch on the fence line and don't be in a rush. If you look like you are watching the game the other spectators will stop looking at you and soon return to, well,...spectating.
