The Quest Down Under - checkers, anyone? Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Ngaambul: As there's been either no response from the cache owner, no cache to find or log to sign, or it's been longer than 28 days since the last reviewer note. I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace/make available the cache sometime in the near future (next 28 days), just contact us (by email) once the cache is in place, and assuming it meets the current guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it. Should you replace the cache after 28 days has passed please create a new cache listing so it can be reviewed as a new cache.

Geocache Description:

This cache is a waypoint/cluepoint for the quest down under cache series.

This place will take you to a hill which has, in previous years, been part of the Tour Down Under route. In recent years, however, this hill hasn't been part of the Tour. The hill was used for what is called "King of the Mountain".

Riders receive points for being the first to climb right to the top of the mountain, and the first person of each stage, to cross the line at the top of the mountain, will win a King of the Mountain jersey. At the end of the Tour, the rider who has received the most points for KOM, will also receive a KOM jersey.

The jersey is currently sponsored by Skoda - Skoda King of the Mountain.

While you are here, observe the writing on the road, which have been written by the spectators. Also, there are brilliant views from this location, so ensure you take your camera.

You will also need to bring a device which will let you do some quick research. You will notice that there is a small note stapled to the front of the logbook. This note has a question which you will need to find out the answer to. This will then give you a certain number, and letter. You will need to remember both the letter and the number which corresponds with the letter. Ensure you write these down, and keep them in a safe place, because you will need them, to find the final cache.

When hidden, the cache contained a few things picked up from the Tour Down Under. There is a stress item, hat, cowbell, keyring, beachball and stubby holder. If you have anything from the Tour, please swap it with these items...if not, bring any item to swap.

Please be very careful on this hill...it is very narrow, and people drive up and down the hill at high speeds...there should be a parking space just a few metres up from the cache...park here.
