Geocache Description:

Medium plastic lock n lock container stocked with trinkets from Geocaching store and a Log Book to record your find. Located on Long Meadow Road in Sterling Forest State Park.
Roadside parking for anyone seeking a quiet spot to eat lunch, cast a lure or simply enjoy the allure of water and hillsides.

Second in the Jerry Mathers’ Series, this cache was established to show some of the potential of Mother Natures Creatures. Avoid prying eyes of muglers by not going straight line to the site.
This pond was developed in the 1960’s by Sterling Forest Development Corp to beautify the drive through the Forest and provide recreational opportunity for the residents. Called Four Corners Pond as it was located near the intersection of Long Meadow and Warwick Brook Roads, the owners stocked it with perch and largemouth bass for fishing. In winter months, it sported a shelter for ice skaters to warm themselves.
Travelers enjoyed the surrounding intersections as the Corporation planted them with various bulbs (daffodils, jonquils etc.) keeping with the allure of the Sterling Forest Gardens which were world renowned in the day.
Today the impoundment is enjoyed by boaters and fishers. Waterfowl abound and photographers frequent the site.
Mother nature fills voids….. Here too was a site suited to a some very clever engineers. Today, when we “Leave It To Beaver” the spillway gets plugged with their cuttings and threatens the dam. Take note of their lodge near the south end and all the trees they’ve cut around the pond. Park personnel must clear the spillway weekly or risk losing control of water flow. Beaver populations throughout the Park are very high.

This cache was registered and approved by Sterling Forest State Park and received their permit number GC121SF.
