Invites You To Participate In The
2012 ARP Spring Cleanup
NOTE: This event is not meant to compete with the other CITO going on at the same time "The Trail to Fairy Falls CITO". If you would rather go to that event, please do. This event is for those who would like to stay local.
It's time to take care of one of the playgrounds in which you hunt. This event will NOT be about the "Cache In" but all about the "Trash Out"!!
Come an join the community in participating in the American River Parkway Spring Clean Up. Volunteers will be coming out in droves all along the parkway to pick up trash to keep the parkway beautiful. Special arrangements have been made for a group of Geocachers, that's YOU, to descend upon a designated stretch of the parkway.
By participating in this event you will receive a parking pass for the park to use during the event. The American River Parkway Foundation will provide the trash bags and final trash removal. All we need to do is collect the junk and get it to the parking lot.
The Details:
Date: April 21th, 2012
Time: 9AM to Noon
Place: Discovery Park, Sacramento.
Waivers: All participants must complete an waver to participate. A special Youth Waiver of Liability will also need to be completed by a parent or guardian of anyone under the age of 18. (These forms will be available onsite)
Community Service: If you have, or know of any kids, that need to fill community service hours for school, this event counts!! Bring the forms for me to sign!
What to Wear: Long pants and and maybe a long sleeve shirt. Hiking boots or sneakers. NO OPEN TOE SHOES!!
What to Bring: The usual for a CITO. Work gloves, Sunscreen, Water, Brimmed Hat, those picker-upper grabby contraptions so you don't have to bend over as much. Buckets, wagons and handtrucks are great too if you have them.
Things To Think About: There are the usual things to be aware of while along the parkway.

Don't go reaching into places that you can not see!! There are Rattle Snakes along the parkway. Always step on, NOT OVER, downed trees and rocks so that you can see what is on the other side.

Keep an eye out to Poison Oak. There are only two types of people in the world. Those who have had Poison Oak and those who will get it.

Protect yourself from the sun. Sunscreen and a good hat with a brim are always a great idea.
Remember, Practice "Cache In Trash Out"
While out geocaching, bring a bag with you to pick up trash along the way.
