Geocache Description:

Brown cylinder stocked with very odd items. Located near water impoundment in Sterling Forest State Park placed for the finder to marvel at some of Mother Nature’s creatures. Avoid mugglers and use a seasonal parking site (N 41˚ 15.235 W 074˚ 13.656) off the road south of the site. Careful……roadside parking could result in a parking ticket here……

This impoundment originally created in the 1960’s by Sterling Forest Development Corp to supply water to the Sterling Forest Gardens Nursery (formerly Benjamin Meadows) located across the water underneath Sterling Mountain. The small brown – green shack once held the pumps which irrigated the nursery.
The current impoundment is wonderful for wildlife but when we “Leave It To Beaver” they plug the town Highway Department’s culvert every week. I’m sure they wish the beaver were elsewhere.
Check out the dam and the size of some of the trees they cut just below it.
This cache was registered and approved by Sterling Forest State Park and received their permit number GC120SF.

PS: For anyone unfamiliar with the series name reference, Jerry Mathers was the child star of the television show called “Leave It To Beaver” which ran from 1957 – 1963. When life was much simpler.

Cache contents when first placed included:

A Log Book to register your find.
Small bear bell small combination lock
Small keyed lock w/key pens pencils and sharpeners
