Geocache Description:

In September 2011, a member of The Tick Magnets attended her first ever geo-poker run! She had a ton of fun so we decided to bring some of that fun a little closer to home! Wanting to reserve the poker-run idea for the group that hosted the September event, The Tick Magnets have decided to take the concept of the run and give it a word-tile twist. Here's hoping you enjoy our twisted Easter egg hunt/psuedo-poker run/word game~ Clyde, Mac, and Swiz

SCRABBLED EGGS

TEAMS

Teams may consist of any number of players; however each player may only be on ONE team. For example, a player may not pick up tiles for any team other than the team with which they registered and a player may not help any team other than the team with which they registered construct a word.

REGISTRATION

Registration begins at 8:30 AM at the posted coordinates. All teams must be registered and have their coordinates drawn by 9:00 AM. Teams must provide a team name, complete a team roster, and draw 8 sets of coordinates. Teams will need at least one GPS style device and will need a vehicle as the caches are dispersed over a fairly large urban area.

Team names and geo-nicks do not have to be the same. For example, cachers may join together to form a single team and select a new name for the team. A separate sign-in sheet for the event will be on hand to record geocachers attending the event.

THE GAME

At 9:15, all teams will be given a map of the area and the coordinates for their drawn caches. Teams are free at that point to disperse and find caches! (Teams should familiarize themselves with hand entry of GPS coordinates prior to the event!).

At each cache location, teams will be searching for eggs! Each team will select ONE egg at each location. Inside each egg is an envelope that contains a single letter tile. The envelopes are labeled and sealed. The envelopes must NOT be tampered with or opened!

All teams must return to the starting point with their collected eggs no later than 12:00 PM (noon).

A member of The Tick Magnets will verify that all envelopes inside the eggs are still valid (must be sealed, not tampered) and that only one egg/envelope has been drawn from each of their assigned/drawn caches. Tiles will be marked to show which team owns the tile. Swapping of tiles between teams is not permitted!

Teams have until 12:15 to register their best word with The Tick Magnets. Teams may not use dictionaries, encyclopedias, thesauruses, smart phones, phone a friend, etc. to construct their word. Teams must rely SOLEY on their team’s collective brain power to construct the word! An official Scrabble dictionary will be used by The Tick Magnets to verify words. The word must be in the dictionary to be eligible for a prize. (No proper names, foreign words, etc.)

Winners will be announced at 12:25 and prizes will be awarded. (In order to encourage safe and responsible driving throughout the game area, no prizes will be awarded based on speed of collecting tiles or early return to the collection area. Safety First!)
